Our trip to St. Louis
to see the Gateway Arch National Park
April 6 - 8, 2019

In February 2018, Jefferson National Expansion Memorial
was changed to the Gateway Arch National Park
making it the 60th National Park.
The signs are just being changed.
In fact no one knew exactly
where the new signs are located.
But Kathleen found it!

Walking around downtown St. Louis on our first morning,
we came across this statue.
Not to sure what is the significance, but...

According to RoadsideAmerica.com
"Empty Suit"
"Completed in 2011 by Austrian artist Erwin Wurm,
Big Suit corresponds to a men's size 144.
It's big, pink, and empty, and it's up on a pedestal so it must be art."
Go figure!

What, me worry?

View of the St. Louis Old Court House
from the top of the Arch.
This is also part of the National Park.

View of Busch Stadium from the top of the Arch.
Surprisingly, this is not part of the National Park!

Nice view of the Old Court House
with the Arch in the background.

Sunday afternoon, we headed off to
Busch Stadium to see the Cardinals play
the Padres.

This was the last of the home opener three game series,
where the Padres won the first two games.
Unfortunately, their luck ran out when we showed up!

Nice view of the Arch in the background.

Great seats!

Notice the Arch mowed in the field
between the first base side and the third base side...
Nice touch!

Bill couldn't pass up the $5.00 beers
in the Budweiser Terrace
good only until the scheduled time of the first pitch.
You can see the count down clock just below
the Budweiser Terrace sign in the photo.

And to conclude our visit, we decided
to take a tour at the
Budweiser Brewery.

First, we visited the stables where
the Budweiser Clydesdales
are kept.

The stables are immaculate!

Kathleen sampling the latest batch of brew!

And after that, we headed back to San Diego!

Guess what?
In February 2019 they added a 61st National Park -
Indiana Dunes National Park.
Looks like we will never meet our goal at this rate!
