Our Trip to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii
August 28 - September 4, 2014

The Queen Lili'uokalani Race is held every labor day weekend.
It is the world's largest long distance outrigger canoe race.

First the women teams compete on the 18 mile run between Kailua and Honaunau,
then the men teams do the return route.

Race day, August 30th

This is only about 10% of the canoes that were out there.
We estimate that there were 200 + canoes in the water!
