Our Fourth Trip to Maui

Another great tropical floral arrangement!

Our continual search for the perfect Mai Tai.

Lahaina was unusually cold, wet, overcast and windy
through most of our stay.  So we spent a lot of time
on our lanai, watching the various activities on the water.

*****

The stormy weather ended on the last two days of our trip
and we had sunny and warm days.
So we decided to go on a whale watching cruise.

Over the years we have taken a number
of whale watching cruises.  Usually, you have to go
far out of the harbor and look for a whale to surface.
After being on the surface for less than a minute,
the whale dives and you wait for 3-10 minutes for it to
surface again somewhere in the wide vicinity
of where it went down.

However on this trip, we spotted a whale
within 15 minutes of leaving the harbor.

Actually it turns out there were
three or four whales,
which were fascinated by our presence and
spent the next hour along side of our boat.

Whale watching cruises are not allow to be closer than
100 feet  to the whales so the captain had to turn off
the engines until the whales moved away from the vessel.
So we spent an entire hour being surrounded by whales.
Enjoy the pictures below!

And that's all folks!

Aloha!
