Padres Spring Training
Camp
&
A Visit to the South Rim
of the Grand Canyon
March 4 -
March 8, 2025
We took the first flight out
from San Diego to Phoenix,
arriving at 9:00 AM.
We were too early to
check in at the hotel,
so we had a leisurely breakfast.
The hotel did give
us a parking pass,
so we were able to walk across the street to the
ballpark.
The Padres warming up
prior to the first game
against the San Francisco Giants.
The game ended up in a tie.
There are no extra innings in the games played
during Spring Training.
The next morning we walked over
to watch the Padre training camp
activities.
Lots of kids hoping to get autographs
from some of the
players
as they walked by to the various
fields at the facility.
The game the next day was against
the Colorado Rockies.
It was not a
pretty picture.

I think our view for our seats was
much better than that on the
Jumbleton.
So after attending the games, we had planned
to drive up to the South Rim
of the Grand Canyon
and spend a couple of nights there
before returning
home.
Guess what?
It snowed the first two days we were there
and stopped the day we left.
Our rental car had over a foot of snow
covering
the top of it by the time we left.
Needless to say, we were freezing our butts off!
On the day before we left, we came across 20+ of these creatures
hovering around the side of the road!
And they were definitely feisty!
On the last day, the clouds cleared out
and we had
fantastic views of the canyon.
On the way back to the airport
we made a stop
to view the remains of
the cliff dwellings at the
Montezuma Castle National Monument.
That's
All Folks!
